Maximilian has over ten years of experience in policy research, having worked on evaluations and impact assessments of several EU directives, related mostly to taxation (including VAT, customs, and excise duties) but also to other areas and sectors (e.g. energy, construction, glass and ceramics). In addition to his background in working with EU institutions, he has worked extensively with private sector clients, supporting not only the European container glass industry with market reports and other analytical insights, but also a business representative association in the steel industry in its bid for an EU industrial policy and research program. He has further worked on assignments with international partners, such as the World Bank Group (IFC) or the Swedish Chemicals Agency (KEMI). With a passion for mnemonics, in-depth research and decision-making processes, his skills come to fruition when analyzing policies and their possible and actual implications, as well as stakeholder engagement.

Maximilian has a PhD in Political Science, European Politics and International Relations from Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in collaboration with Florence, Pisa and Siena Universities (Italy), an MA in European and Global Affairs from the University of Sheffield (UK) and LUISS University (Italy), as well as a BA in Political Science from the Free University of Berlin (Germany). With a great enthusiasm for academia, he is also serving as an external lecturer in EU Politics at the University of Applied Sciences BFI Vienna.
